Commissions

Hanny-d Creations offers a made to measure service for garments handbags and accessories for all occasions. These can be made using the client’s own fabrics (new or otherwise) or fabric Hanny has in stock. These are generally, but not exclusively, recycled from deconstructed clothing and other sources.

A happy client is of utmost importance to Hanny. The service includes a preliminary consultation to discuss your needs, providing guidance regarding fabric choices, as well as taking measurements. Once a style and fabric have been decided upon, pattern designing can start. A toile (practice piece) can be made to ensure correct fit, thus ensuring valuable fabrics are kept intact for the actual garment or other item being commissioned. This step is not always necessary for simple designs. A fitting is generally required prior to completion of the garment unless otherwise stated by the client.

Recent commissions include a 3 piece business suit - trouser, skirt and blazer, casual hooded jacket, Princess-line dress with contrasting panels, casual tops and blouses, panelled skirt. Hanny-d has also received commissions for a formal evening purse for a Mother of the Bride, a leather handbag made from a client’s coat, several other bags and purses.

In 2011 Hanny re-fashioned a pre-loved wedding gown which had been purchased on-line by a client only to find it didn’t fit correctly. It was converted from a one piece dress to a skirt and separate bodice and the hem (which included an intricate beaded “fishtail” at the back) was shortened. The bride was very happy with the result and her guests never knew the dress wasn’t new.

Fees for commissions are based on an individual basis: the degree of difficulty of design, type of fabric used and the likely time involved especially if a toile is made prior to the actual garment. For example: a fully lined chiffon dress in an intricate style (higher degree of difficulty) would cost more than a simple cotton sundress (lower degree of difficulty). If the fabric needs to be sourced by deconstructing existing garments this adds to the cost.

A deposit is required prior at time of consultation with final payment at completion. Unless otherwise agreed all deposits are non-refundable. Methods for payment include credit card (final payment only), bank transfer and cash.
